EVALUATE IF MUPPIES IS A GOOD FIT FOR YOU

Muppies members are selected based on two main criteria

LEADERSHIP

We specifically look for professionals who are:

(a) leaders in their community and/or their careers, and
(b) demonstrate exceptional business acumen.

In other words, we look for professionals who are either currently serving in a leadership capacity, are on a leadership trajectory in their careers, or have demonstrated leadership in their personal endeavors– regardless if one works in the for-profit, nonprofit, or public sectors.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Muppies is fueled by our members’ shared vision to uplift each other, fostering collective progress within the Muslim professional community. Applicants should demonstrate a commitment to personal growth, the advancement of others, and the overall betterment of the Muslim community.

Applicants who are currently undergraduate or graduate students are advised to apply after securing a full-time position unless one’s past experience clearly fits the criteria above.
Prospective applicants are welcome to email apps@muppies.org with any questions before applying.

Questions about applying?

Applications are read by members of the Application Committee. The Application Committee is comprised of members of the Global Muppies Executive Team, as well as current and past Muppies leaders. Committee membership rotates on an annual basis.
Muppies relies on a set of membership criterion to accept applicants as Muppies members. The Application Committee evaluates potential members on three key areas:
  1. Leadership: Professionals who are either currently serving in a leadership capacity, on a leadership trajectory in their careers, or have demonstrated leadership in their personal endeavors, irrespective of whether they work in the for-profit, nonprofit, or public sectors.
  2. Community Service: Applicants should demonstrate dedication to their own development, the advancement of others, and the overall betterment of the Muslim community.
  3. Business-oriented role: Membership is open to individuals in business, entrepreneurship, government, nonprofit, and social enterprise, including health, law, or engineering professionals with aspirations in business, leadership, or entrepreneurship. This targeted membership results in a focused global community of high-achieving and passionate professionals who share a common background and similar goals.

Yes – all applicants will be notified once a decision has been made, regardless of the outcome.

Applicants are strongly encouraged to apply once full-time employment has been secured. If an applicant has recently graduated from college or a graduate program but is still unemployed, the Application Committee will evaluate one’s candidacy based on the applicant’s prior work and community leadership experience.

Applicants who are currently undergraduate or graduate students are advised to apply after securing a full-time position unless one’s past experience clearly fits the criteria above.

Prospective and current applicants are welcome to email apps@muppies.org with any questions.

Applicants are evaluated on the criterion mentioned earlier.

Common reasons an applicant is not admitted include:

  • An applicant is currently enrolled in school and the applicant’s prior career experience did not meet the application criteria
  • An incomplete application was submitted, or responses to prompts were not thoughtfully written
  • An applicant’s career experience does not meet the list of targeted fields mentioned on this page, and/or the application did not demonstrate clear leadership in an ancillary field
  • The applicant was an indiscernible prospect of either a) giving to Muppies or b) gaining from Muppies

The membership application process is designed to strengthen the community of high-achieving, passionate professionals who share a common background and similar goals.

Once accepted, new members will receive a welcome email from a Muppies team member with information on how to make the most of the Muppies membership experience.
